SMS Opt-In & Message Consent
chai.wedding is a private, invitation-only wedding website for the wedding of Kai Horan and Chase McKinzie. This page documents exactly how a guest consents to receive SMS messages, so the opt-in step can be reviewed without an invitation code.
How guests opt in
Each guest receives a paper invitation with a unique RSVP code. The guest goes to chai.wedding/rsvp, enters their email and that code to open the private guest portal, and completes their RSVP. During the RSVP, in the “Stay in the Loop” section, the guest chooses how they want to be contacted. There is a distinct, separate checkbox specifically for SMS consent(“Text message”). It is unchecked (blank) by default. The guest must take the deliberate action of checking that box themselves before any text message is ever sent, and only then does a phone-number field appear. A guest may leave it unchecked and choose email only — they will receive no texts.

What we send
An RSVP confirmation, and occasional updates about the wedding schedule, travel, and lodging. Recipients are limited to a fixed, known list of personally invited wedding guests. We do not send marketing or promotional messages, and we never share phone numbers.
Message frequency, rates, help & opt-out
Message frequency varies; most guests receive only a handful of messages in total. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Guests can also switch to Email at any time in the portal.
